The last week of the regular season is here, and this Friday many seniors in the SJV for everyone but Centreville, Schoolcraft,
and Constantine will be putting on the pads for the last time on Friday night. Here’s to the SJV teams, players, coaches,
fans, and schools for bringing another great year of SJV football to SW Michigan!
To the teams not making the playoffs, I hope you leave it all on the field this Friday night, and treasure the life lessons
of hard work, good sportsmanship, and learning how to win and lose with class and dignity. To the teams going on in the playoffs
next week, hats off to you for making this season a great one, and I’m sure Constantine, Schoolcraft, and Centreville
will leave it all on the field in the coming weeks, and represent the SJV with pride.
On with the picks!
Constantine @ BCSP – The Falcons took it to White Pigeon last week, and kept the Tomahawk firmly in Constantine’s
hands. BCSP has struggled this year, and although the struggle will continue this week, I’m sure the Fighting Tigers
will leave it all on the field. Constantine, however, wins this one in a romp, and continues to look ahead to the playoffs.
Constantine 49, BCSP 0
Schoolcraft @ Centreville – It was a toss-up between this game and the Mendon – Bronson game being the game of
the week, but overall I think Centreville will be outmatched in this one. Schoolcraft is on track to go undefeated for the
first time since 2001, and with a defense that is only allowing an average of 9 points per game, the Bulldogs are going to
have a hard time getting some points on the Eagles. Add to this the Eagles averaging almost 40 points per game on offense,
and you have the undisputed SJV champs at the end of 48 minutes this Friday in Centreville.
Schoolcraft 35, Centreville 7
White Pigeon @ Colon – After a tough loss to Constantine last week, the Chiefs look to finish strong as they take the
road to play Colon. White Pigeon looked like a team this year that had a slow start, and has gotten better as the year has
went on. Colon, on the other hand, has just had a rough season in general, and will probably struggle to keep up with the
surging Chiefs this week. Look for this one to be fairly close, but for the Chiefs to come away with a W in the season finale.
White Pigeon 24, Colon 18
Game of the Week: Mendon @ Bronson
This game is pretty much for bragging rights to tie Centreville for 3rd place in the SJV, but also I think it will be a point
of pride for the Hornets this week to finish as strong as they can. Both teams have had some letdowns in games they arguably
should have been able to win, and I think both teams will come out playing hard and leave it all on the field this Friday.
I think Bronson will give Mendon all they can handle, but Mendon digs deep and gets the win to spoil Bronson’s final
home game. This one should be a tough defensive struggle, and I like Mendon by 1 score here.
Mendon 13, Bronson 8
